day 1

FROM THE DEEP WOODS TO THE INFINITE BLUE

finale ligure ⟶ alassio

Our three-day MTB tour in Liguria begins at Colle del Melogno, above Finale Ligure. From here, we enter the ancient Barbottina Forest, riding natural singletracks and technical descents through beech trees, roots and rocky terrain.

The route continues across the Ligurian hinterland, passing Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena, one of the region’s most distinctive medieval villages. A shuttle transfer then takes us towards the hills above Alassio for the second part of the day.

As we approach the coast, the landscape changes from dense forest to Mediterranean vegetation and open sea views. The final descent leads us directly towards the beach in Alassio—the perfect place to stop for a well-earned beer at sunset. After the ride, we transfer to Dolceacqua for our first night and prepare for the next stage of the Azur Tour.

day 2

CROSSING BORDERS: A WILD RIDE INTO FRANCE

dolceacqua ⟶ LA BRIGUE

Leaving Dolceacqua behind, we travel deeper into the mountains of the Western Ligurian hinterland. The Mediterranean landscape gradually gives way to a wilder, more remote environment as we approach the high ridges of the Maritime Alps.

This is the most demanding day of the tour: a complete enduro experience on natural trails, with rocky sections, exposed passages and steep, technical descents. The landscape changes constantly, moving between open mountain slopes, ancient military tracks and secluded forests far from the busy coastal towns.

After crossing into France, we descend towards the Roya Valley and reach La Brigue, a historic mountain village surrounded by forests and high peaks. This is where we spend our second night, in the quiet atmosphere of the French Alps.

day 3

FRENCH ENDURO LEGENDS: FROM the MOUNTAINS TO THE RIVIERA

saorge ⟶ NICE

We leave La Brigue and travel towards the hills behind Nice, where the final day reveals another side of the region. The high mountain scenery gradually disappears, replaced by rocky terrain, Mediterranean vegetation and the warmer light of the French Riviera.

Here we explore some of the most iconic trails of the French enduro scene. These natural tracks are known for their distinctive character: rocky singletracks, steep sections, technical passages and fast, flowing descents through the hills above the coast.

The tour ends on the beach in Nice, where the mountains finally meet the Mediterranean. It is the perfect place to slow down, look back at the trails we have crossed and celebrate three days of riding between Italy and France.

THE TIBETAN VILLAGE OF THE ALPS

Looking at this photo, you might think we’ve flown to the Himalayas, but this is Saorge.

It’s known as the ‘Tibetan Village’ of France because it’s built entirely on a sheer rock face.

For centuries, it was a strategic fortress on the Salt Way, and today it remains a place of silence: it’s one of the few villages in Europe where cars are completely banned. Exploring its narrow stone alleys with our bikes feels like traveling back in time.
