day 1

FROM THE DEEP WOODS TO THE INFINITE BLUE

finale ligure ⟶ alassio

We start from Colle del Melogno, where the trails enter the ancient Barbottina Forest.

Surrounded by beech trees, we ride natural singletracks and technical descents shaped by roots, rocks and the changing character of the terrain.

The route leads us through the Ligurian hinterland and past Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena, one of the most distinctive medieval villages in the region. From here, a shuttle transfer takes us towards the hills above Alassio for the final part of the day.

The landscape gradually changes as the forest gives way to Mediterranean vegetation and open views over the coast. A spectacular final descent takes us directly towards the sea, ending on the beach in Alassio with time for a well-earned beer at sunset.

day 2

The Wild Heart of Argentina Valley

VAL LERRONE ⟶ molini

Leaving the coast behind, we travel deep into one of the lesser-known areas of Western Liguria. Far from the busy riding destinations, this is mountain biking in its most authentic form: remote landscapes, natural trails and a genuine sense of exploration.

We ride along high ridges overlooking the valleys that descend towards the Mediterranean, following technical singletracks through forests and rugged mountain terrain. The landscape becomes increasingly wild as we approach the Argentina Valley, one of the last valleys in Liguria before the French border.

The final part of the day is dedicated to the natural MTB trails surrounding Molini di Triora, a historic mountain village with a strong connection to the local enduro scene. Rocky sections, forest trails and long, varied descents make this one of the most complete and rewarding riding days of the Azur Tour.

day 3

the golden ridge

MOLINI ⟶ dolceacqua

This is the most complete all-mountain day of the tour. After a shuttle transfer into the high Maritime Alps, a steady climb takes us towards the ridgeline and the wild landscape along the French border.

From here, we follow natural MTB trails across exposed ridges, rocky sections and remote forests. Long descents alternate with short climbs, while open views stretch across the mountains of Western Liguria.

The final section is a spectacular descent of more than 2,000 metres towards Dolceacqua. As we lose altitude, the alpine landscape gradually gives way to Mediterranean vegetation before we reach the historic village in the valley below. A demanding but rewarding day, combining technical terrain, remote landscapes and one of the longest descents of the Azur Tour.

day 4

Into the Remote Roya Valley

DOLCEACQUA ⟶ la brigue

Today we cross the border into France and enter the remote Roya Valley, heading towards the mountain village of La Brigue. This is one of the most secluded areas of the tour, where the Ligurian Alps gradually merge with the Maritime Alps.

The day begins with a long natural trail before taking us deeper into wild alpine terrain. Rocky singletracks, remote forests and constantly changing landscapes make this a varied day of mountain biking far from the busy trails of the coast.

Surrounded by high peaks, we follow old mountain routes through a territory shaped by centuries of movement between Italy and France. The ride ends in La Brigue, with time to explore the village and enjoy a well-earned aperitif in the quiet atmosphere of the Roya Valley.

END OF TOUR // NICE PROMENADE

day 5

The Disneyland Finale

la brigue ⟶ nice

The final day takes us from the wild Roya Valley towards Nice and the Mediterranean coast. With very little climbing and more than 2,000 metres of descent, it is a fitting finale to five days of mountain biking across Italy and France.

The route begins in rugged alpine terrain before gradually entering the drier Mediterranean landscape of the French Riviera. Natural enduro trails, rocky sections and long, varied descents reveal the distinctive character of mountain biking around Nice.

The last trail of the tour is known as Disneyland—and the name says it all. After a spectacular 2,100-metre descent, we reach the Mediterranean coast and celebrate the end of the Azur Tour in Nice.

The Silvery Mystery of the Argentina Valley

Ever wondered why this wild corner of Liguria is called the ‘Argentina Valley? Many travelers mistakenly think it refers to ancient silver mines hidden in the mountains. The true secret lies in the centuries-old Taggiasca olive trees that cover the slopes.

When the afternoon breeze blows upward from the Mediterranean Sea, it flips the leaves of millions of olive trees simultaneously.

They reveal their pale, silvery underside. In a single moment, the entire valley begins to shimmer and sparkle like polished silver under the sun. In fact, it is a natural spectacle that we will witness together as we ride the ridgelines. It’s not just a name; it’s a living landscape that changes with the wind.
