Starting high above Molini di Triora and Dolceacqua, Riviera Express follows one of the most spectacular natural routes in western Liguria. After a single uplift to around 1,500 metres, the day unfolds through alpine forests, panoramic ridgelines and the medieval village of Bajardo, before gradually descending towards the Mediterranean coast.
Along the way, the landscape changes constantly. Dense mountain forests give way to Mediterranean vegetation, sandstone replaces alpine rock and every descent reveals a different side of Liguria. It’s a ride defined not by speed, but by variety, where every trail feels connected to the landscape around it.
The final chapter begins above the sea, with panoramic singletracks overlooking the Italian Riviera before the rocky descent of Vamos a la Playa delivers us directly to the beach in Bordighera—the perfect place to end the day with a well-earned aperitivo.

RIDE INFO // WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE TRAILS
From alpine forests to Mediterranean trails, Riviera Express is a full-day E-MTB experience that reveals one of the most diverse riding areas in western Liguria.
The upper part of the tour has a distinctly alpine character, with natural rock, roots and compact forest soil. The trails are technical enough to keep experienced riders engaged but never excessively demanding. As the route descends towards Bajardo, the terrain becomes faster and more flowing, alternating between woodland singletracks and open panoramic ridges.
Closer to the coast, Mediterranean vegetation gradually replaces the mountain forest. Sandstone, dry terrain and rocky coastal trails create a completely different riding experience before the final descent into Bordighera. There are no mandatory drops, jumps or artificial features—just natural trails that showcase the incredible variety of western Liguria.
The combination of one initial uplift, rolling terrain and short climbs makes Riviera Express an ideal experience for E-MTB riders.
The final descent follows Vamos a la Playa, a trail restored in 2022 by the local trail-building crew Supernatural for the Stone King Rally. Their ongoing work helps preserve and improve the riding experience while respecting the landscape that makes this area so unique.

Is this tour for you? If you’re looking for a different side of Liguria beyond Finale, this tour is for you. Ride from the Ligurian Alps to the Mediterranean through natural singletracks, medieval villages and ever-changing landscapes in one unforgettable day.
Who is this for? Designed for intermediate to advanced riders who enjoy natural trails, technical terrain and exploring new destinations. An E-MTB is recommended to fully enjoy the route.
Bike Type: E-MTB (150mm+).
Vibe: Ride from the mountains to the sea through one of western Liguria’s most diverse landscapes.
The Riding: Expect natural alpine singletracks, forest trails, panoramic ridgelines, sandstone terrain and rocky coastal descents linking Monte Ceppo, Bajardo and Bordighera.
Why E-MTB? One initial uplift gets us into the mountains, then the E-MTB unlocks the full experience, effortlessly linking alpine trails, medieval villages and the Mediterranean coast.
TRAVEL & LOGISTICS
➜ We’ve got the logistics covered so you can focus on the ride.
Meeting Point: We meet in Bordighera. After a quick coffee and briefing, we load the bikes and head into the Ligurian Alps, where the day’s adventure begins.
Daily Schedule: Expect around 7–8 hours of riding, including one initial uplift followed by a full day of E-MTB riding through alpine forests, medieval villages and Mediterranean landscapes. We’ll finish back in Bordighera, where a well-earned aperitivo by the sea is the perfect way to end the day.
Guided Tours: This is a private guided experience led by a Certified Liguria Region MTB Guide. Every tour is tailored to your group’s riding level and interests, allowing us to choose the best trails according to the season and trail conditions.
- Coming from Finale? Looking for a different riding day without moving your van? Simply hop on the train from Finale Ligure to Bordighera (around 45 minutes). We’ll pick you up at the station, ride from the Ligurian Alps to the Mediterranean, and drop you back in Bordighera in time for your return train.

What’s Included: Certified Liguria Region MTB Guide, private full-day E-MTB tour, one uplift to the Ligurian Alps and a route tailored to your group’s riding level and the day’s trail conditions.
What’s Excluded: Travel insurance (mandatory), E-MTB rental, lunch and personal expenses.
Booking: A 30% deposit is required to secure your private tour. The remaining balance is due before the riding day. As this is an exclusive private experience and availability is limited, we recommend booking in advance.
TRAVEL TIPS
LOGISTICS
GETTING HERE: The tour starts in Bordighera. The closest airports are Nice (NCE) and Genoa (GOA), while Milan (MXP) is also a convenient option with a longer transfer.
- COMING FROM FINALE LIGURE? Simply take the train to Bordighera (around 45 minutes). We’ll pick you up at the station with the shuttle, spend the day exploring Western Liguria’s Golden Triangle, then drop you back in Bordighera in time for your return train.
FOOD & DIETARY: We love local flavors! If you have allergies or intolerances, please let us know at the time of booking so we can coordinate with the trattorias.
ON-TOUR CARE
HEALTH PRIORITIES: Your health and safety on tour is our top priority.
LOCAL ADVICE: You should always consult your own doctor or physician before travelling to new countries to seek their advice on health matters abroad.
VACCINATIONS & WATER: No vaccinations are required for visiting our tour areas. While tap water is generally safe, we recommend bottled or filtered water, which will be readily available throughout the trip.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS: Please let us know if you have any special food requirements, allergies, or pre-existing conditions your guides should know about.
TRAVEL INSURANCE (Mandatory): As a condition of booking, you must be insured against medical and personal accident risks. Your policy must explicitly cover mountain biking. We also strongly recommend coverage for trip cancellation and baggage (including your bike).
FINANCIAL TIPS
CURRENCY & CASH: The local currency is Euro (€). While cards are accepted in cities, cash is essential for remote mountain huts and small bars.
ATM MACHINES: You can find ATMs in Finale Ligure, Dolceacqua, and Nice. We suggest withdrawing cash before heading into the smaller villages.
TIPPING: In Italy, tipping is a sign of appreciation for great service. If you’ve had an epic time, a tip for your guides and local staff is always a nice gesture!
WHEN TO BOOK THIS TOUR
Riviera Express is best experienced from late April to early December. Due to the high elevation of the Ligurian Alps, snow can remain on the upper section outside this period. During the riding season, every ride showcases the unique transition from alpine landscapes to the Mediterranean coast
Cancellation Policy
A 30% deposit is required to secure your booking and is non-refundable if the tour is cancelled by the guest.
Your safety—and ours—always comes first. If extreme weather or official weather warnings make riding unsafe, we’ll cancel the tour and issue a voucher for the full value of your deposit, which can be used on a future Trails Unlimited tour.
Whenever conditions allow, we’ll adapt the itinerary rather than cancel the day. We only cancel when we believe it isn’t safe to ride.
